DescriptionThe organizing committee was established as a joint organisation comprised of members from Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, and Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since 2014, it has been organising the Kyoto Smart City Expo as the Asia version of the Smart City Expo World Congress. At this year’s Expo held on the 20th and 21st May 2015, over 8,000 people from 25 different countries participated in the event, with 115 companies and organisations exhibiting to develop active business and technological exchange. We are aiming for 10,000 participants for next year’s expo, to be held from the 1st to the 3rd June 2016, and also plan to include business matching opportunities. Furthermore, building upon the success of the Kyoto Smart City Expo, we have established the Smart City Global Network. This is an international network of over 70 companies, local governments, and other related organisations that has been created to help overcome regional challenges through enhanced strategic exchange and cooperation between companies and local governments, as well as to encourage development of new smart industries and technologies.

Development of Smart Cities through cooperation between companies and local governments

By providing and sharing information on the technological abilities of companies and relevant needs of local governments, we can encourage development of Smart Cities in various regions around the world. Additionally, we are also looking for support and cooperation from companies and organisations to help promote the projects of the Kyoto Smart City Expo 2016, to be held in coordination with the Smart City Expo World Congress.
